It Me
A kid in fifth grade said I’d grow up to be an “author.” I’ve followed this vocational summons in various writing roles, from my time as a music & culture journalist, to ghost-writing for Tech CEOs, to being on brand development teams for local campaigns. As a professor in the discipline of Rhetoric, I currently teach courses on how brand-identity and messaging shapes culture.
CV in Brief
I’ve reviewed albums, festivals, and concerts for outlets like OkayPlayer, Greenshoelace, Giant Step, Another Planet and The Hundreds. Notably, while with the The Hundreds I also reviewed several documentaries, wrote cultural exposes on fashion & society and generated written content to boost the re-launching of brands. Additionally, I’ve worked as a content writer/strategist with Oakland’s 510 Media group, contributing to civic beautification campaigns as well as rebranding launches for a local college prep school. My more recent projects have found me as a hired gun to ghost-write for Tech CEOs represented the firm branding/marketing group, MATTIO. Today, I’m working on a collection of essays tentatively titled, Between a Hotep and a Hardplace.

A Bit More
Currently teaching courses of my own design in Literature, English Composition and Rhetoric at San Francisco State University and Los Medanos College.
In addition, I’ve published several short-stories in prominent and less well-known literary magazines. In 2016 was awarded SFSU’s Department Award for outstanding academic performance for my graduating MFA thesis, a collection of shorts entitled, Fishing with Sergeant Barbecue.
I’m based in Oakland, California but available for travel, as well as deadlines for the NYC standard business operating hours.
